Who has open top tanks?

As the title asks, who keeps their tanks open? I just want to get an idea of how popular it is to run an open top tank. I love the look of them and I am considering not putting a lid on mine.

I ran a 125g and now a 240g without lids on either one.

New 29g tank with no top on it.

Ok. The only reason I asked is because it seems like every fish I read about requires a lid on the tank. I am assuming these are just precautions that should be taken for every fish. I would hate to come home and always find my live stock on the floor.

I'm running my 40g Breeder open top right now. Partly for aesthetics, partly for purpose. My tank was getting HOT during the day with my 6 bulb tek light, even at it's tallest setting. Would swing from 77 to 82 through the day and was starting to stay between 80-82 since the glass lid was keeping in the heat. After removing the cover the temp stays between 77-79. I do lose a bit more due to evaporation though but keep a 5g jug with fresh RO/DI in the stand, go through a few gallons a week on top off. At the end of it though I personally prefer the naked top :-)

Some fish are more prone to jumping out than others.
