Live Rock question

The rock that I will be getting is dried out. I was wondering if other than helping to speed up the cycle is what are the other benefits of using live rock?

That is what filters your water for you, thats why its necessary to run at least 1lb of rock per gallon. Dry rock will not help speed up the cycle, fully cured live rock will, it already has all the needed beneficials grown in the rock to help it.
