are my tempatures fine ?
okay so i have two tank and im wondering if the temperatures they are is fine the first one is a 20gallon with at the moment has 2 male and two female platy's in it as i would like them to breed i have the tank at 80f is this fine and okay for that tank ?
my next tank is a 10 gallon but my heater just broke for this tank last night but the tank is now resting at 77f and the only thing in this tank is my 5 platy fry as this is my nursery and ther is a snail in there as well. is this too cold will they be okay?
the room they are in is generally warm
thank you in advance
Read up on the profile for a Platy, just click the shaded name here on your own post or mine.
They do okay between 68-82F. Somewhere in the middle is best. You do not need a specific temperature to breed them, they'll breed like mice regardless.
I would pick a mid 70's temperature for both. You need a heater in the 10 gallon, a constant temperature is necessary. One that fluctuates daily will not be good for their health.
I agree with geomancer.
So any where from 70 -78 would be a. Good tempeture and thank you I am still new to keeping tropical fish

I've noticed platys tend to do better closer to 76-78 but they do tolerate that whole range pretty well and probably will breed as long as they aren't doing the back stroke.
