Cycling with fishes

Hi all. I'm new to the hobby and I've been reading a bunch on this site as well as other sites. I'm confused about cycling with fishes. If I'm cycling with fishes and I don't care if the fish lives or dies, is it detrimental to the cycle if I do water changes?

Welcome to the forums....

...but that isn't a very good attitude to have going into this hobby o.O

Water changes do not hurt the cycle, but why use fish where there are numerous ways to achieve the same thing, and not harm any fish in the process? Using fish isn't any faster and can actually be slower (if Ammonia or Nitrite get too high it will stall the cycle).

I suggest you start with reading this: http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/f...m-cycle-38617/

Yes, Please remember you are talking about living creatures. I am sure THEY would prefer someone cares if they live or die and how much they suffer in the meantime. :(

I second geo and Inga. Death from poisoning by ammonia or nitrite as will occur during cycling is cruel.
