Normal?

I got a mystery snail about 14 hours ago. Since then he has only moved about a cm. lol Is that normal? He also has a small hairline crack running through his shell which I noticed right after I took him out of the bag. Is this bad? Sorry for asking so many questions here.

Here is the position he has been in since I got him.

If you have a low pH like I do then their shells with eventually crack and potentially deteriorate. The snails I have always brought home have all had hairline cracks in them.

As far as him not moving yet... A stressed snail can sit still for quite a while. I had one get stuck to the netting around my power head for who knows how long (a couple hours at most). I pulled him off and thought he was dead, he didn't move or come out of his shell for 2 days. He is alive and well and racing around the tank as usual.

Give him some time, he may just be stressed from moving to his new home.

Thanks for the reply, this afternoon he is zipping all over the tank so I guess he has settled in.
