Synodontis Multipunctatus question
I've read that this catfish normally schools when younger but when it is mature prefers to be solitary. Does this seem to be correct information? My LFS has 3 larger ones and I would prefer to get only one but if it will do better I can get two. I just went and saw them on my lunch break and plan to go back after work. Thanks!
This fish is recommended to be kept in groups of 4 or more. Single fish are likely to be much more secretive. They attain 6+ inches in aquaria, so they need space, a 4-foot tank minimum. And coming from Lake Tanganika, they need hard water, lots of caves from rocks, etc.
Thanks Byron, I did get one yesterday and he is pretty outgoing but I will probably go back and get the other two since they were pretty cheap ($8). I do have a 4 ft. tank. These guys are about 4" now. I appreciate the help!
