Plants for 10 gallon What are some good plants for a 10 gallon tank with 2 25 watt lights in the hood? |
Java Fern I have a ten gallon, and I have a Java Fern. They are not demanding as far as light goes and grow slowly. They also are not eaten by most fish. They can be found at almost anywhere aquatic plants are sold. |
Thank you. I looked for java moss and they did not have it where I got my fish and there were so many other plants to choose from I just didn't know which one would be the best. |
I finally was able to find small flourescant lights to replace the 25 watt tube bulbs in my ten gallon (at WalMart of all places) so I took the plunge to some live plants. I've put in two java ferns and two bunches of anubis which I'll clip back and replant as they grow. I'm still looking for some type of low ground cover plant. |
I got a Java Fern but i'm unsure what to do with it. Right now it's just in the gravel. I have read it can be attached to rock or driftwood. How can I do that? I have a nice rock in there that I could attach it to. |
Nevermind I figured it out. I attached it to the rock with a string. |
If it is incandescent lighting then you won;t be bale to grow much. Java fern, java moss, anubias and some low light crypts will do ok but the growth will be minimul. If it is flourescent lighting, whether long bulbs or the screw in flourescents then you can grow a lot of plants at that light level. I would say the oly one you can't grow well woud be high light dependant plants. Crypts Anubias Cabomba Anacharis foxtail To name a few, check out http://www.tropica.com/plant_print.asp for more plants and their light requirements. |
