need stocking ideas (aggressive fish)
hii guys i have a 30g tank that is empty (no fish) at the moment it is cycled and ready to go i just cant seem to find the right fish to go in it. i need ur ideas on and aggressive species that eat other small fish. It doesn't matter if i can only keep one of these fish in the tank i just want something ferocious. It cant be piranhas as i live in Florida and they are illegal here. thanks in advance

Here are a few.(I am getting some of the names out of a British book)
Lesser Spiny Eel.
Lung fish.
Senegal Bichir.
Jack Dempsey.
South American Leaf Fish.
Ctenopoma acutirostre.
Common Nandus.
Red Dog Charakcin.
Pink Tailed Characin.
Buck-toothed Tetra.
African Snake Head.
And if you had a bigger tank a Vampire Tetra.

You're not going to get something ferocious for a 30 gal tank. Most species that are piscivores are too large to fit in a 30 gal. Most of the species that can are either omnivores or insectivores not ferocious fish eaters. A 30 gal is really only suited for small schools of tetra, corydora, livebearers, and other smaller peaceful fish.

If you want to look through our fish profiles, you can find the tab on the top left under the site logo.

thanks for the info guys. and nicolaas iam gonna be checkin out all the names in that list and the Buck-toothed Tetra seem like a good choice can they be mixed with any other fish?

No not really.I also think to go with a few of them.

What is the length, with, and height of the tank?

i dont know the exact dimenssions of the tan but if it helps i bought it at petco and it is a prettt tall tank because i have seen some other ones that arent as tall. i think iam gonna go with like 12 of them and mave some sort of breeding tank for guppies to have food for them. any ideas on bottom fish like algea eaters that would be compatible with them also that i could get at petvo or petsmart because there are no LFS in my area.

Bucktooth Tetra (Exodon paradoxus) - Seriously Fish If you scroll down to Compatibility here it has some ideas for bottom-dwelling tankmates.

But you should also note this is not a fish-eating fish. Their diet is primarily insects. Keeping another tank of guppies just to feed these guys doesn't sound like a good idea as the guppies will soon outreproduce the ability of the tetra to eat them. If you want something to eat guppies, you will need a larger tank.

Adamson you didn't!!! LoL Omg!! I want to see pictures! I am so curious to see what happens in that tank.

I wouldn't even recommend the Jack Dempsey for the 30 gallon. it's a little too small for fish like that.
