eggs on fern like plant?
hi, i'm new to fish breeding and fish in general, but slowly learning. i have a molly that i believe has layed eggs on one of my ferns. they are little clear spheres with a little white dot in the center. there are probably close to 150 of them on the whole plant. now could these be actual eggs or maybe just some infection the plant maybe has? there is nothing like this on any other plant,

Mollies are livebearers so they wont lay eggs. What other fish are in the tank ?

Mollies give birth to live young, so it could't be eggs. Depending on what other kind of fish you have?

Opps sorry steven you beat me to it .

Any snails? Is the plant new?

fishkeeper3000 03-04-2012 10:41 PM

no snails, and the plants are about a week old

Without a picture it's hard to tell but sounds like you got yourself some hitchhiker snail eggs :-)

well got home from school today and noticed they are all gone now. i believe my albino cory at them, due to it was nibbling around them the other night
would snail eggs just randomly appear? they weren't there when i purchased the plant, and they are snail free if it makes a difference

Did the eggs look the these? This is a picture of some snail eggs in my 29g that hitchhiked into my tank. I noticed a few small baby snails running around not much longer after that I found these eggs. Now I see egg patches all over both my planted tanks, usually 6-7 visible at any time. The majority get eaten I assume as neither thank is "overwhelmed" with snails. They will only breed up to the available food supply so if you get overrun it's a sign you are feeding too much or some other issue. IMO they are good to have in the tank. If you have a planted tank long enough, eventually despite your best efforts, you will get snails.
