Can anyone aid me with pleco breeding I am going to start with bristlenoses and move into bigger ones, cheers.
I haven't had any success, my BN are too young still, but from what I've read, you need a breeding group (more females than males), a cave or two suitable for them to use (male shows paternal care), some driftwood in the tank (requirement for all plecos at all time), plants seem to help, feed well, and wait! Some people I buy from seem to have periods with lots of breeding, followed by a breeding break. No real predictor. Males won't always accept all the females, so you'll need to have more females in the tank to allow some mate choice. Females tend to breed more with makes that are already caring for young.
Good luck! For bigger plecos, I don't know anything except you'll need a much bigger tank!
