- - Ammonia level (http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/beginner-freshwater-aquarium/ammonia-level-9394/)
I recently changed my goldfish to a 55 gallon. Currently we have 3 goldfish in there. The tank has been running for over two weeks and we're using stress zyme to accelerate the bio filter.
The ammonia tested 0.5 yesterday. Should I do anything at this point, or should I wait one more week to see if the bio filter is established? Or is it safer to change 25% of the tank water?
I would definitely change 25%-50% of the water (I do my cycled tank weekly, before it cycled I did a change every 3-4 days)
Beyond that, I just waited mine out... I know adding the ammonia reduction chemicals and what not can be more trouble than theyre worth
Hopefully someone else comes back with somemore advice :)
Oh! and if you have anotehr tank with some extra biomedia, you could borrow some to help cycle this tank. And don't add any fish until it cycles
Thank you guys for helping! I already changed 25% of the water, and should be doing another one in a few days! :)
