I have a couple of green puffers too, ive only had them for a couple of weeks or so, but so far they seem to get on fine with my Mono sabae and archers. I haven't seen any fin nippin yet, but that could be because the mono's and archers are so fast and the archers will tend to stay at the top of the tank. But many times my mono's and puffers will eat a mussle laid on the bottom of the tank together without any trouble, even tho i did only place it there for the puffers, but mono's are so damn greedy.

yes i think a mono is far to quick for a fat little puffer to catch. Monos are brackish though so you might want to add some salt. The monos have a wonderful behavior pattern as well which i think resembles a salt water batfish.

yer im def going to start ading salt, but i need to learn more about wats anount and weekly monthly,, all that, so il wait until im fully confident before i start. They seem fine at the mo, so hopefully should be ok..i dont no anything about salt water batfish, what are they like behaviour patternwise? sorry for hijacking the topic for a bit....i do like watchin my mono's they are a very active fish, lots of character too.

i got 2 puffers from walmart too... the one died the very next day the other managed to hang on 3 days ....the one i had had internal parasites bad i found out i tried treating her but it was too late..... but good food for them are ramshorn snails...fresh clams and fresh shrimp...... and i was told they are brackish when young by the time they are adults need to be in pure saltwater.....

how did you know it was a female puffer fishmom? Did she have big lips?

I've splitted this topic. Let the old one rest in peace.:smoke: As for salt, use marine salt. It can buffer the pH which should benefit your brackish water specimens.
