Tropical Fish Keeping - Aquarium fish care and resources - My experience getting a female GBR today

So, I attempted to buy a female for my GBR today. Crazy watching the interaction. At first, while the female was "floating" the male went into this frozen state, and didn't move. When I released her, he just stayed still and watched her. She was picking at the sand and all seemed good. It seemed at first he liked her, they were meeting together. In a short time, it all changed. He was chasing her pretty bad, and because he never did that with the first female (RIP, little girl) I figured it wouldn't work. I returned her.

I'm thinking I may go ahead and try 2 females, and see how that goes. It will cost more, but I'm hoping maybe that way he can pick? If that doesn't work, I guess I'll just have one GBR. I don't want to get rid of him, and start with another pair. I like him, and he's my fish.:-)
