Does anyone know how acurate AqAdvisor is in determining tank capacity for specific setup?
Thank you for any input.
AqAdvisor - Intelligent Freshwater Tropical Fish Aquarium Stocking Calculator and Aquarium Tank/Filter Advisor
It's another tool you can use. It can't possibly take everything into account so you should use other research as well though. It is useful though.
AqAdvisor is a great tool for beginners who don't quite know what to expect. As the previous poster said, there are a lot of factors that contribute to tank capacity and maintenance. I used it when I first started and it pointed out a couple things that I would never have thought about (ie, the bioload for snails is larger than a lot of fish!). The more maintenance you are willing to do, the larger the stock you can have in your tank is what it comes down to. Young tanks can't handle a huge bioload, the longer the tank has been established the more flexibility you have to go over the "recommended" limits.
Plants help too, which AqAdvisor does not take into account. My advice is to share your stocking plan with the forum and solicit feedback from the users here. You'll get lots of great advice from those in the know!
