The Art of The Planted Aquarium 2012 contest - movies

Hi guys,

As you probably know, there was a large aquascaping contest organized 2 weeks ago in Hannover, Germany, called "The Art of the Planted Aquarium". This contest is organized every year, during the zoological fair "Heimtiermesse". The quality of the aquascapes there is outstanding, and improving every year, so I visited this event, and did a lot of filming. Here are first three movies, showing tanks which took places 1-5:

...places 6-10:

...and some tanks which didn't take any place, but I think they are worth showing, too:

Other movies from The Art of The Planted Aquarium 2012 aquascaping contest coming soon! :)

Cheers,

Piotr K.

Very nice. Thank-you for posting.

As I was watching, I was struck by a couple of thoughts...

> These all new aquascapes are setup in a great hall but not really representative of established aquariums.

> How stark even a well planted tank looks without any fish.

The contest and these videos does give hobbyists excellent ideas of what to strive for in planted tanks.

Here is the 4th part of the report from this year's The Art of The Planted Aquarium contest. My favourite aquascape is the tank no 27 - I like the harmony of colours of plants and rocks :)

I meant - tank no 29 :) My small typo, and I can't edit the previous post...

Yeah, they all are great, aren't they? :) No's 30 and 32 (Helemanns) would be also great - if only the plants were a little bit more "settled" in the tanks. I like this classic dutch planted aquarium style :)
