training E. Bleheri
Anyone ever tried training an amazon sword (echinodorus bleheri) to stay small, or stay vertical? I have 2 in my 55 that are together, and about 2 feet (literally) wide. I was going to dump both of them, but if I put one or both of them in their own corner, would it be possible to keep the old growth trimmed so that the plant would go more upwards instead of sprawling horizontally? They literally take up the whole tank, the foremost and rearmost leaves are smushed against the tank walls.
I have trimmed the 2 in my 20 long for years to keep the old growth from reaching the surface, with great success, but they are also 1/8th the size. If it would have a detrimental effect on the plant, id rather give it away and buy new ones.
