FAT Corys

I've had the same 2 Cories since I got into the hobby about a year ago, and they've stuck with me through thick and thin. Since the, I swelled their population to 6 (but two new ones from the same batch died within several weeks, their fins slowly disappeared and eventually a strange fungus built up on their back. Don't think it was fin rot, wasn't ugly enough to be it). I still have 4 of them, and I've noticed that they've gotten quite fat. I don't mean chunky, their bellies are quite large. I mean FAT.

I don't think they're sick because they're still eating normally and they've been this way for several weeks now. I suppose it could be from over-feeding since I drop an extra 2 Hikari tropical wafers in for my Apple Snails. Perhaps the Cories are nibbling on these in addition to their usual feed?

I've never seen them this big before, just wondering if they're either sick or just a bunch of fatsos.

could it be that they are maturing into females. ?
i have two female peppered corys, and they are
considerably(sp)bigger than the male.

Willow could be right, depending on the age of the fish. But also, cories do tend to be quite greedy, so if you're dropping in extra food there's a good chance they're gobbling it up quite happily. I wouldn't worry unless you see some other signs of illness or distress. :)

i have one cory thats huge and i try to feed my plecos and 5 other corie but he hogs it all  . so try not to feed sinking pellets or other stuff like that for a few days and see how he does.

My female albino bronzes are ROTUND! Course the get a really good diet and generally spawn weekly. It could just be that you have females. I mean, they're potbellied, yes? That's what mine look like just before thy spawn.

Yes two of them have very big potbellies.

See, I figured it would have something to do with spawning but like I said, they've been that large for a few weeks now - wouldn't they be about ready by now?

my girls were quite big for ages, nothing ever happenen,
then i did a complete water change, and when i put them
back in the water was not up to temp,in fact it was
quiute a bit lower,realised after,then they began,
the little male sat ontop of the female head and
started to tickle her head with his fins, after a min or two
they were then in the "T" position, they have been spawning
ever since,in fact i have more peppered cory eggs this morning.
i think it may come down also to how old they are aswell.
i forgot to ask is one of them quite a bit smaller than
the others with very pointed dorsal fin to the others ?
