Can I Use Laminated Flooring Underlay For A Base?
Hi all, Well my polystyrene wasnt covering the whole space between my stand and tank so ive replaced it with quite a few sheets of this:
To make around half a inch of cushion foam, will this be okay replacing the polystyrene stopping it to twist and crack etc.
Links broken but if it is what I think it is it should be fine as long as the surface is really smooth and level, reason alot of people use Styrofoam is because it will deform to the shape of the weight distribution, but getting the ratio right on it for the right amount of support can be difficult if done properly.
BTW welcome to TFK
Ah sorry just noticed the link is
They are just thick sheets of foam really, quite soft but ive done around a dozen sheets to make half a inch and is quite chusioney, is also on a flat surface of plywood the tank and stand doesnt wobble at all, im just hopeing the foam acts as styrofam supports the tank so it doesnt crack.
Ah that stuff is a little bit different but key is if it deforms under pressure it should work for your intended use.
