Are Shrimp Dieing or Molting?

I just purchased a ton of yellow cherry shrimp. For someone who knows nothing about shrimp it was probably a frivilous purchase. They are very small (grain of rice or smaller). They have been doing great for a month. Today i notice white dead shrimp all over...or did they shed?

Not much of an expert myself, hopefully someone with more experience will be along shortly with a more informed reply. Since you bought them so small, I'd guess that they'd be primed to do some moulting fairly quickly and relatively frequently. Have you inspected any of the white forms? When you hold them in your fingers, do they feel like mere exoskeletons or do they still have organs, etc. inside?

My guess is they are molting. The shed exoskeletons should be left in the tank as I am told they will consume it for the minerals.

I see them in my shrimp tank.

Yep molting ... don't sweat it.

You'll see them come out at feeding time.
