Angel breeding

Hi,

My angelfish pair laid the aggs and so i shifted them alongwith the eggs to a new tank. i think that due to the strain they ate aal the eggs. i have again shifted them to the old tank. Now i have 2 males & i female in the old tank. the males seems to be very aggressive with the other male but the female now seems to be very quite ( earlier before spawning she was very aggressive with this other male). Its almost 10 days after i shifted them back. but it doesn't seem to behave like a pair. Will it spawn again???

Once they pair up again, move the pair into their own tank. I almost lost a beautiful koi male because the two males were tormenting each other.

Hi,

They just paired. will remove the other male today. But now they are cleaning the small earthen pot that i have kept in the tank. The pot is rough and i think will easily catch fungus. Though i have put methylene blue in the tank i am worried that it will catch fungus. Pls suggest.

Make sure you do 25% water changes daily. The methylene blue is your best defense paired with the water changes. I have had occasional problems with fungus, but it usually is due to how well the the parents clean and fan the eggs. if the pair is not fanning water over the eggs get a bubble strip and place it under the eggs to achieve the desired water movement over the eggs. This is all that i do and i have had relatively good results in my hatches. Again this is how i do things and i am relatively new to breading angles. There are several people on this forum that have much more extensive knowledge and experience than i do. read their threads and contact them.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. My angel fish just spawned on the pot.how long will it take for the male to fertile the eggs. I wants to remove the parents or the eggs to another tank. i want to separate them as they ate the eggs on the 3rd day last time. this time i have even got the heater and have adjusted the temp on 78. will it be ok?

now the eggs are transparent. when is the best time to separate them.

I leav the parents in and let them raise the fry. I only take the parents out when they are free swiming. But that's just me. You can take them out any time. The male would have fertilized them as she laid them

Eggs should be good to move 1-2 hours after laying, unless you are really trying to get fry and give up on the fact the parents might get better at raising them. Some pairs tank multiple times before they learn to become good parents.

A big thank you to both of you. I haven't moved the eggs yet. But in the morning around 15-20% of eggs have turned white. The rest are still transparent. But the parents are not removing the white eggs. The eggs are around 20 hrs old and since only 15-20% have turned white, can i assume that the others are fertilised?

Also, let me know what can i feed once the eggs are hatched(I know this is only the 2nd time but still i am optimistic). It is very difficuilt as well as expensive to get Brine shrimp eggs in Mumbai, India. So suggest what else can be fed.

I thinks its getting difficuilt now. Around 50% of the eggs are now white within 30hrs.Should i separate the parents now????
