how to breed red rosy minnows?

i have a 10 inch arowana and i want to breed minnows and feed them the fry when they are a little big. how many inch will the minnow be when they are ready to breed? is this true, if the minnow is dark then it is ready to breed. also what stuff i need to breed them?

hey :-) males are broader and larger with thicker fins, they will also develop a fatty tissue and breeding tubercles on the top of their heads during breeding (in fatheads males will have vertical stripes when mature), females will have a visible ovipositor (in fatheads they lack the vertical stripes)Rosy reds are usually sold when 1/2-2 inches in pet stores, but can grow up to 3 inches in males.

To induce spawning all you really have to do is provide a 16 hour photo-period with 8 hours of darkness, this with a good diet of things like bloodworms, brine shrimp and Daphina is all it really takes.
