2OG tank chip

I was looking at my 20g and I notice that there was pretty big chip on of it sides. I was just wondering if I were sealed the whole side and seal the chip will it be ok to use?

if it doesnt go as deep as to make it start leaking then i personally dont think it should be a problem. tho if it seems like it will, i would place a good chuck of silicon sealant on there just to be shure.

Is the chip close to an edge of the glass? A photograph would be helpful here if you're able to get one Joe.

Like the previous posts...depends on the severity of the chip. Be generous with the sealant to ensure no leakage. If it is a pretty deep chip then I would consider getting a new tank.

Well as long as the chip does not spider out in any direction you could be ok. If it does you could be looking at a catastophic failure in the futre with even the slightest bump. If you can, I would sand the edges smooth with some metal sand paper, the kind you use with water or I would find a piece of either wood or plastic in an L shape, silicone the daylights out of it and put it on there to try and prevent any chance of it spidering out and causing a 20 gallon mess. If you can put the crack towards the back and get a piece that goes top to bottom it might not look that bad, especially if you did both sides of the back.

I error on the cautious side, it may not need it but once glass gets going it can go completely without notice.

ok i think i might have a corner molding piece so seal it with that

petco often has $1 per gallon. some times its cheaper just to buy a new tank on some of these small tanks.
