I found four babies in the tank about one week and 4 days ago.. Can mollies have a few babies and still be pregnant and have the others a few weeks later? I have two females in the tank so I am not sure which was the one to pop out the babies.. Is there any thing I can do to help increase the chances of her having her fry? help! :)
tempature speeds up the process anywhere from 76f-80f
Thank you! Currently at about 79 degrees
I copied-pasted this from an earlier post.
Live bearers usually give birth once a month. So if you keep note on today's date, you can predict aprox when your girls will give birth again (give or take a week or so). To determine when to isolate your girl, look at the anus (?) of your girls now and try to remember the size. When it gets bigger, your girls will give birth soon (between hours or days-this applies to all live bearers). If viewed from above, the body of your girls should be rather square rather than round (the belly area).
It is said that mollies can give birth up to 50 fry but IME they usually average around 15-25. Then again it really depends on what and how you feed them.
The thinnest female is most probably the one that gave birth..... IMO it's best not to speed the process (giving birth) because she might give birth to premature fry. Let them do so on their own time - you will get healthier fry.
