white spot on platy...not ich
After buying three platies for my 10 gal. aquarium from petsmart (probably not the best place to buy fish), I noticed a small white spot on one of the females.I think it might have been a small abrasion of the scales/skin. I have been treating the tank with an ich/fungal medication to keep from any fungal garbage for one week now and it still has not gotten any better. I made sure to take the carbon out of the filter etc.I hope it was just a small wound and I would like to know if or when the scales will grow back. My tank is cycled and the ph is around 8 with harder water than most tap(My household water is well water) Luckily I have done research and platies prefer a higher ph/hardness. Sorry that I did not include a picture. The only cameras available at the time were my phone which takes garbage pics and my laptop. I also have a suspected pregnancy with my marigold platy. she does have a dark spot right behind her hut and forward of the anal fin. She has also gained some weight since I got here. I bought a small net breeder that has small plastic plants inside. I know that the plastic contraptions save more babies but I don't want/need more babies. I might try and sell them if I run out of room. Thanks for any help!
If you don't want the babies, just leave them in the tank. Also my plattys get those wounds, and they go away.
I did some research and the white spot looks like it might be an ulceration. Look them up if you don't know what they are. Are these what your fish get?
