there is this absolutly beautiful cichlid at the store, i went on monday to just pick some safestart up and saw it and fell in love. i didnt get it because its a cichlid and i have guppys. i also now have a black ghost knife and i have in the past experienced death by pretty cichlid haha. its only 3 inches or so, would i be ok for a little while if i were to get just one? and would just one be less prone of agression? its white with these like silverish stripes i wish i read what the name of it was.
i just called and asked them, they said its a peacock... is it really going to devour my guppys like they said it will? and is 12 bucks a good price for it?
Yes, a peacock cichlid will eat anything it can fit in its mouth, so will the BGK for that matter. Guppies should only be kept with small peaceful community fish.
EDIT: it's not an aggression issue. In the wild big fish eat small fish.
yeaa i figured this muchh :/ iv had BGK before with guppys, i mean theyd eat maybe one or two but i never lost a significant amount of them, and in the 55 i figured ATM theyd be able to run away and hide much much easier.
ATM my Guppys are swimming around like normal, my BGK is doing more of the hiding. Which I figured but info watch at night too and he still is very secluded you know?
