Death of an Angel
i went away for a week, came home to the loss of
8 fish, including one of my angels.
i had to completly gut the tank(the big tank)and clean
it out as the smell was horendous(sp)
the thing is this,i hate to see the other Angel on it's own,
is there any chance of introducing a group,or am i
bringing trouble to my door. ?
i would really welcome some advise, thanks. :(
OMG :( im soooooooo sorry willow :sob:
I think all you can do is do your best to find out what caused the problem and move on. Did you think to take params when you got home? aside from the spiked ammonia :\ is it possible a heater malfunctioned? Did someone watch them for you who decided to spray something in the room? or try to feed them something silly?
scan the remaining fish for any signs of homicidal tendencies and sociopathic behavior..... nothing? not even a half a smile? god knows im trying :) hang in there willow. all you can do after a meltdown is start over and try to learn everything you can to prevent it next time.
do your best to get to the bottom of it but dont give up! we're all here for you!
If you would like to introduce new angels, I would make sure that they are of the same size. You should be ok then. Sorry for the loss, but we live and we learn. Do you know what caused the malady? Tank get too hot or cold while you were away?
Isolate the old angelfish to another tank and let the new one establish its territory first before putting back the old one.
Sorry to hear about your loss, Willow.
well i put to sleep a Odessa barb today."dropsy" :(
the tank had a water change before i went away, all was fine.
had a watcher for the fish with instruction on feeding.
gave the filter a samll rinse of the sponges at the weekend,
and cleared the pipe work,as there was hardley any flow,
there was a lot of gunk in hte pipes,so i guess the flow was
not helping, then on top the fish began to die.
apart from the odessa the rest are looking good, and now thaty the
tank has had a complete overhall, they are livley and
looking good, will test later in the week, however the filtrer
should be ok now,as the flow is put back to normal.
Thanks for the info on the Angels guys, that has helped,
silly question, will it matter if the new one is a complete
different colour ?
