sand on the bottom?
im thinking of getting a 10 gallon tank for a betta, and some possibilty for a bottom would be sand but how would i clean up the mess at the bottom without disturbing the sand and sucking it up or sending it EVERYWHERE?
u rinse the sand, to get rid of all the dusty particles, and it should be heavy enough to not be sucked up by a gavel vac
i have a ten gallon with a betta and some, and the sand is really good and easy to clean
but it depends also on the sand you get, i find in my tank with play sand it gets sucked up a lot but later falls out
ok thanks for your help
I have sand and find that it's not very hard to clean, however it often begins looking dirty since it's very light and crap is...well, dark.
As long as you rinse it thoroughly in a bucket, the heavy stuff will be all that's really left. Your filter won't get destroyed etc if you're careful when vacuuming sand don't harass the sand too violently. The sand will go maybe half way up the vacuum, but will fall back down when you stop vacuuming (so be careful where you point it!).
