The Discus with angel debate

I need some other fish then discus in my tank, I was thinking rainbows but as lupin pointed out they can be a bit too boisterous. So I was thinking angels, but you really seem to get a 50/50 response to angels either good with discus or bad with discus.

anyone have some ideas?

A good question would be how many angelfish and discus are you planning to put in the 55 gallons? It is possible to mix them as long as your discus are tough enough to deal with the angelfish. Angelfish are quite feisty, aggressive eaters and are more resistant to most protozoans compared to discus. It is best if you introduce the discus first and let them establish themselves before introducing angelfish with them. Just as a precaution, it may be a good idea to quarantine your angelfish before putting them in the main tank.

I was thinking one or two but the last thing I would need is for the angels to pair up :( so maybe just one because you dont really think of them as a schooling fish

oh and the discus are already settled in
