New Tank, Unusual Cory Behavior?
New tank. My folks got it for my son. We started with 3 lamp eye tetras for a week, per the pet store, and then added 3 neons a cory cat and a dalmation molly. The molly had 5 babies, ate 3 of them, and then we isolated them, The mollie later died. This is all in the course of two weeks. A water test revealed high nitrites yesterday, but everything else in line. Completed about a 50% water change yesterday. All other fish behavior appears normal.
Up to now, the cory cat scaveneged around the bottom, the rocks, etc, "doing his thing". Tonight he is racing up and down the sides of the glass, back and forth. Have not yet completed another water test, as was advised to wait 48 hours to retest all. Am unsure if it is normal for him to do this, or if this could be related to the nitrite problem. Maybe he does this when we're not looking at other times, but we haven't seen it before. Thoughts would be appreciated. :-D

Thanks. He seems to be back to "normal". Was just a little gun shy, having lost a few fish (including another of the babies), and the tank is still cycling. Thanks for your reply. :-D

One of my panda cories is currently glass surfing like that because my other two cories are in isolation. It's because cories are shoaling fish and they prefer to be in groups of 4 or more, or it stresses them out. Don't be surprised if he starts doing it again. I'm watching mine bounce up and down right now wishing I could make him happy, but his buddies are ill and my petstore owes me 3 of them. Haha

Cory's can be 'zippy'. it is also normal for them to dash to the top of the tank and take a gulp of air. maybe he was doing this more often since he was under stress from the params and being solo?

My cories did this for a couple months after I brought them home, but they seem to have calmed down since.
If your tank can support it, you'll need a couple friends for him to hang out with. Same for your tetras. I keep mine in a group of 6, and even that's on the small side.

Cory cats and albino cats
I have two cory cats right now that are zipping up and down the glass. My lfs has albino cats on sale can I mix the two and would this stop them from zipping around.
