increase Kh without increasing Gh
 

Hello,

I am trying to figure out a way to raise the Kh and not the Gh in my tank.

Here are my numbers from today:


pH: 7.2
nitrate/nitrite/ammonia all within normal limits
gh 10
kh 3

what is the importance of kh and gh. i always tried to lower the numbers? isnt it just water hardness?

Yea, but they deal with each other. Some like to get really technical about their tanks. They like all the numbers right, across the line. If you think about it, because you have to read your CA numbers. So, when you raise this, it affects that, and so on, and so on. I use Crushed Coral in my tank and don't worry about KH.
