Sand and Pebbles. Quick Question.

Is it okay if I put a layer of pebbles at the bottom and after that a layer of white sand? Or should I go all sand all the way.

Thanks. Good day.

Wouldn't the sand eventually work it's way below the pebbles?

Yes. Gravity and the normal movement of water through the substrate will cause the smallest particles to be on the bottom and the largest on top. Which is why i never recommend different particle-sized substrates. All sand is best, or all gravel, depending upon the look you are after and of course any needs of the fish (substrate fish in particular).

Also, I would not use white sand. Fish feel less threatened over a darker substrate.
