Ill Black Moor?
I have a 2 Goldfish Aquarium which is filtered, well oxygenated and which has regular maintanence (2 gravel vacuums and one 40% water change a week). Recently (before christmas) I noticed my Black Moor was bottom sitting . I checked the parametres and there was no difference to the ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, pH and hardness to normal.
He is fine during the times when he's awake, he acts normal, bubbling around and annoying his tank mate, but when he 'sleeps'/relaxes, he sinks. I read on GAB that if there was no issue with water quality it could be constipation (which sounded right) and to fast them for 3 days then feed them peas. I have completed the fasting period and fed them peas 2 days in a row now and although the bottom sitting is less, I still catch him doing it sometimes.
Is there anything else that could be wrong with him other than constipation? I have now altered his diet to include peas as well as flake food and blood worms.
I had a floater. The GAB helped me clear him up very nicely. It sounds like you are on the right tract by altering his diet, but you might want to add more variety to it. Get one of those clownfish lettuce clips and put orange slices in it or spinach leaves. Blanched zucchini cut into bite-sized pieces is also good.
Ideally you want his poops to be small and about the same color as his food. Long white stringy poops are bad. Although you did alter his diet some, it might not have been enough. I give my guys commercial food (New Life Spectrum or Mazuri Gel Food) only once daily. Their other meals are fresh/frozen foods.
You could also ask over at the GAB. There aren't many goldfish people here.
Cheers, I haven't seen him on the bottom since my last post :)! I will try him on blanched aubergine like you said and thanks for the clip suggestion, i've been looking for something just like that :)
