Breeding molly in a community tank
Hello! I'm just new here in the forums and I would like to ask a few questions.

Can I breed mollies in a 90 gallon tank with other fish. I currently have 10 mollies, 9 of which are male. I'm planning to get 10 more females to keep the population in balance. Joining the mollies are 4 buenos aires tetra, 1 barb (not sure what kind, 'cause my father bought it), 1 janitor fish as they call it here ( it's a cat fish), and 4 cichlids.

I have a few rocks and cracked pots in my tank for decoration. I would like to add some gravel and live plants but I can't find any in the area I live. I would love if any of you can share me some plants.

So, can my mollies breed in this community tank?

Hi Welcome to TFK. Glad you found us.
I have a 75 gallon with 3 types of Rainbowfish, 2 Swordtails, 8 Cory's and a pair of Calico Mollies. They have had 14 babies and I managed to collect them and put them into the 10 Gal to raise them. At 1 inch they all went back into the 75 gallon and I swear they are all females and all pregnant. They all have square tummies and they are not even half the size of their parents. I cannot find another Male amonst them all. So I say yes you can in your tank, they do like a more basic water, mine is 8 ph. More plants even plastic would give the babies spots to hide, especially surface floating while you collect some real ones. Nature will take it's course and babies will get eaten if left with all the parents. I would say you have way too many males... 2-3 F to each male. And like I say I have only one M and apparently he is quite busy. lol Maybe others can chime in to help advise.
