Equipment Setup? I have just ordered my tank (BioCube 29 hqi) and am almost finished building my stand, so the process of slowing buying equipment has begun. I just got a phosban reactor 150 but had a question about running stuff inline with it. My vision is as followed: Have an inlet pipe go from my tank to a coral uv sterilizer that connects inline to the phosban reactor that than connects inline to a Hydor eth heater that returns back to the tank. Can this be done? Is this ok to do and run it on one external pump? The inlet will be located in the last chamber to allow proper filtration. Thanks, Metal Posted via Mobile Device |
Never tried that many things before. Whats the flow rate on the UV? That would be your main telling point for that piece. Now, just throwing this out there for you, but if nothing is restricted in the lines to and fro, you should be able to make all that work. |
3X 9W Coralife Turbo Twist UV Sterilizer Flow Rate: 100-200gph Hydor ETH In-Line Heater Flow Rate: Unspecified (long as water is in it, it's safe) Two Little Fishies Phisban Reactor 150 Flow Rate: 20-30gph Posted via Mobile Device |
your ok then. Your dwell time on that uv light is going to be huge. |
Awesome , I glade it will work. That will leave me (hopefully) enough room for an ATO, protein skimmer, ph/temp probe, and ph/temp prope in the 3 chambers. thanks Metalarm3 Posted via Mobile Device |
Oh and I forgot, I was thinking of running the UV sterilizer for only 12hrs a day to extend the bulb life from 6 months to a year. Do you see any problems with that? Posted via Mobile Device |

OK, I blast you another ? however. As i mention before, i wanted to get the Hydor ETH In-Line Heater. They are offered in 200W (26-53gal) and 300W for (53-80gal). The price difference is ONLY $2, so is it safe to run such a large heater (300W) on such a small 29gal tank. Everything on the tank will be controlled with the ReefKeeper Lite. MetalArm3 |
