denitrator and phosphate reactor
decided against uv filter will a denitrator and phos reactor do same job as uv filter but without killing stuff i want in tank and will i need special equipment for them to work in my sump?? :?
UV sterilizers are used to destroy single-celled algae, bacteria and pathogens but they must pass through the system in order to be eliminated. They are still needed as a precaution as marine ich occurs a lot more than you think they do. The denitrator eliminates nitrates. Our sponsor, Aquaripure, sells them and we are offering one as a prize for the contest. There are conditions given before you join the contest. Read contest rules thread first.:)
They won't do the same thing. A phos reactor will help keep the fertilizers that feed algae at bay. If a nitrate reducer works, than it will also help keep away algae.
What exactly are you trying to do? When you narrow it down it will be easier to help. I've found that a healthy and well cared for tank beats all kinds of expensive equipment every day. I don't run UV, did for a few months and hated it. I've never had a serious case of ich in my 75g in the 3 years it's been up and running. This includes the huge stress I put upon it moving it a month ago to a different house.
Water changes, water changes and small feedings do wonders.
