My first Cichlid tank and update...
 

of my 55 gallon. I decided to rehome the goldfish I recently got and turn the tank into a cichlid tank I used pool filter sand and did the pillow case method which was really easy and stocked it with yellow lab cichlids and johanni cichlids and I am loveing the two colors together. All of the plants in the 55 except the frogbit and water sprite came from mikeswetpets on aquabid and I could not be happier with the plants or the wonderful service I got and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for plants. So please feel free to make suggestions and tell me what you like or don't like. ;-)
First the Cichlid tank I will get pics of the fish in a few days once they settle in and color up nicely.

Love the Cichlid tank. Did you stack those rocks like that or did it come as a formation? Can't wait to see the 55 grow in!

I stacked them like that they came from my mom and dads yard. ; ) I set it up Friday but then decided I did not like it so I redid it again on Saturday spending at least an hour each time just makeing sure they were sturdy and would not fall on the fish.

Aww you got rid of the goldies? But I think you did a great job with the setup. I've never kept cichlids and don't know squat about them, but your tank looks gorgeous!

Don't worry Koimaiden they went to a wonderful lady that I know on another fish forum she has a 55 gallon tank set up just for Goldies she had two other fan tails as well that she has had for 8 years. Thank you as well for likeing my setup.

Then it looks like everyone got a happy ending! I know nothing about cichlids, but do you plan to plant this tank like your others?

Right now I have duckweed and anacharis in it which I know they will eventually eat the only plant that I know of they will not eat is Jungle Val so I am going to place an order for them some time after Christmas.

I love cichlids, especially oscars but when i get a larger tank that may be the reason I go with another community or semi-aggressive. I'm too addicted to plants now lol.

Need a huge tank, eat all your plants. lol. They do sound like goldfish!

LOL the difference is you can have more of them in a tank then you can of the goldies. Not all cichlids get huge like Oscars. ; )
