Would these pepper corys be happy?
If I had 4 pepper corys, 1 bristlenose pleco, and 1 bolivian ram for bottom swimmers.
6 cardinal tetras and 6 rummynose tetras for mid-water swimmers.
And 2 female mollys for top swimmers.
In a 20 gal. tank.:fish:
That's going to be too many fish.
I would forget about the mollies (or platys, guppys, swordtails), they need hard water and get quite big, the others need soft water.
Assuming appropriate water parameters, the cardinals, rummynoses, bristlenose, and corys would be doable (maybe go ahead and get 5 cories). It would be a little crowded at the bottom though, as these all like the lower part of the tank. Maybe replace either the rummynose or cardinal with something that prefers the upper levels like black neons, head and tail light tetra or even pencilfish.
I think thats going to be nearly fully stocked. But factors not listed could affect this, i.e. plants, 20 tall or long, filtration.
If cardinal and rummynose tetra's are your choice ,I would submit that they like much warmer water than many of the cory's appreciate.
Cardinal's and rummynose would appreciate 78 to 84 degree's while the cory's seem to burn out quickly(month's) at temp's much above 76 degree's in my expieriences with them.
Sterbai cory's would fair much better at tropical temp's that the two Tetra species mentioned enjoy.
Bristlenose appreciate water with some movement and plenty of dissolved oxygen which seem's to benefit them.
Have seen them dart to surface frequently much like cory's when oxygen level is low, and or water is stagnant with little or no movement.
Just my two cent's.
Thanks for your advice. I have a 20 gallon tall and instead of getting the mollies I got 2 silver hatchetfish and instead of the bolivian ram I got an angelfish. I am not adding anymore fish. Thank you.
