I would like to add some fish to my tank and would like to know which kinds would be a good choice? I have 2 Angels Redtail shark A rosy barb and a green tiger barb in a 40 gallon tank. Any ideas
Barbs are schooling fish andlike to be in number of 6 or more so I would go with them. Agression tends to decrease when they are in numbers as well which could be necessary for your angels.
Re: addind fish
I would not recommend mixing tiger barbs with the angelfish. Tiger barbs are habitual fin nippers and regardless of their number, if kept singly, it'll simply harass other tankmates out of frustration that it has no other members of its own species to peck with, and if kept in a large group, a 40 gallons can still cram them anyway and cramped conditions can still permit fin nipping.
Eight rosy barbs will do it as long as they stay their distance from the angelfish as some of them may develop a habit at fin nipping. I would suggest the angelfish be kept only with tetras not too small for them to eat, rasboras, danios, otos, corydoras, rams, apistogrammas and ancistrus plecs only.
Thank you for the replies I have not notice any nipping infact the rosy barb ,shark and the angels chase the tiger around.
