Kuhli loach ok w Eco-complete
Quick questions about Eco- complete.
Is it too sharp for "tender" bottom dwelling fish such as kuhli loaches or corys?

I had Eco complete and thought it was rather sharp so I never got any bottom dwellers. I have all been tod the same thing by others also

I had to look Eco- complete up, but without feeling it I can't say for certain. I would err on the side of caution with it because kuhlis have sensitive underbellies. If it feels remotely sharp to my bare hands I don't risk it with them. I have heard stories of those adorable little guys being split from gills to vent on a sharp rock. Can't speak for cories, but I can imagine the same holds true.

EcoComplete is def sharp and rough, and I wouldn't put any substrate fish on it. I bought some and decided not to use it. I would fear for their bellies and barbels!

I agree. I was warned off Eco-complete for corys, so when I decided to set up an enriched substrate tank, I went with Flourite because having felt both in the store i though Flourite was less sharp-edged. I still do, but I have subsequently found that Fluorite is a bit rough too, and I removed the corys. They seem happier in the sand substrate tank.

Loaches are even worse in this respect, as they burrow. I would not put loaches in either substrate. Sand would be best for kuhli loach.
