What should I do???

Okay, so I have 6 pygmy chain sword, 6 salvinia cuculatta and 6 dwarf water lettuce arriving today. However, I have not gotten my root tabs yet! I know bad planning on my part. I was just going to float the PCS until they get here. I do have some Flourish Comprehensive that I am going to use.

Then my next question...I just hooked up the sponge filter last night. Should I move some/all of the fish (in my sig) into the new (30 gallon) tank from the 10 along with the Penguin 100 filter and a bag of ceramic media for an Aquaclear 70 (thought I was going to get that filter so I got the media in advance)? The Penguin has been going since day 1 (Sept. 1) and the AC70 ceramic media has been in there at least a month. I also use Prime as my regular dechlorinator.

Thanks for the help!!!

I would plant the tank right away and dose with flourish - then add the tabs as soon as I got them.
As to your next question, with all those plants, cycling is much less significant (perhaps not required at all) and you would likely be fine with the new sponge filter. If you want to be ultra conservative, move the filter with the pre-seeded bio-max...then move the fish.

Have you made sure your lights will support plants (I ask only because most stock tank hood/lights do not! e.g. my new 60g came with two 18", T8, 15w lights that would not support plants very well).
Also, substrate? Sand or fine gravel? 2"-3" depth?

Thanks AbbeysDad! The substrate is playsand ~2". Okay I think I will move everyone tonight then. I will go ahead and run the Penguin on it for a little while too and toss in the bag of Bio-Max (it is currently just laying in the 10, not in the Penguin). At least until my other plants get here (6 val spiralis, 5 stems giant hygro, 5 stems pennywort, 3 java fern and a dwarf lilly).

Anyone else see any problems with this plan?

Edit: The lights are 4 15watt 6500k CFLs

I think its a good plan and would move the filter on the exsisting tank as well just to be safe. ; )

Sweet! That is what I will do. Thanks for the help.

I agree, the plants will be fine with Flurish Comp liquid. On the chain swords, i have found they grow very fast in plain snad or gravel with just the Flourish Comp, so you might want to save the substrate tabs for larger swords and the lily. Would help Valisneria too. Vall should always be planted in groupings, the plants can be about 1-2 inches apart. One tab in the middle of such a grouping will do it.

So I can go ahead and plant the PCS? Awesome! The plants were delivered just after I left home to come back to work after lunch, so my wife has them all just floating and added some Flourish. Byron, do you agree that I should be fine in adding the fish tonight as well?

Yes. With the mentioned plants and so few fish in 30g, there should not be an issue.
