Stressed out Molly
Whats the best thing to do for a stressed out molly. I really dont want to take the fish back to the store or have it die. If anyone knows what to do please let me know.
Need more details. Why do you think she is stressed? What kind of tank is she in? Is it cycled? Are there other tank mates? How big is the tank? Is it heated?
Not really sure why she is stressed. I just got her a few days ago and the other 2 fish i bought at the same time are doing jst fine. the tank is a 10 gallon, there is a heater that keeps the temp at 78degrees. there are other tank mates, 2 female gold dust mollies, 1 male silver sail fin, 1 male grey swordtail, 1 female micky mose, 1 female red molly, 1 common pleco, 1 mystery snail. This tank is cycled. I have had it running for at least 2 months.
I meant how is she acting that makes you think she is stressed out. ; ) Do you have lots of plants?
Wow, that's a lot of fish for a 10 gallon. And the Common Pleco will get huge! He'll need a 75 gallon tank and has a relatively large bioload. And then there's interbreeding with livebearers... but aside from that, what are your readings for Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, pH and hardness? With that amount of fish, I'd imagine that the biological filtration would have a hard time keeping up.
Mina I was thinking the same thing thats why I was asking how the fish is acting that way it would give a hint if it was ammonia or maybe ick.
The fish is a loner, doesnt really eat and doesnt reallt go arond the other fish. As for plants I do have plant. 2 Anubis, 1 wisteria, 1 amazon sword, 1 Bamboo. I do have a Co2 system hooked up that I control. as for the hardness, well the water isnt soft water not too sure about the hardness. Also the test kit I used is an API freshwater master kit not the sticks.
Also im planning on getting a bigger tank at the begining of the year.
Do you ever see any of the other fish chaseing her? Do you have male/female mollies? If so she could be pregnant and near time for birth.
