Mysterious fry?

In my ten gallon tank, I have a one male guppy, three juvenile guppys, one adult platy, and one juvenile swordtail.

Today, while looking into the tank, I saw one tiny baby, and the weird thing is; I have no idea it got there. The only female fish in the tank that is mature is the female platy and there is no male platys so how did she get pregnant?

Livebearers can store milt from previous matings. Maybe some one else can say exactly how long, but I think they can store it for 6=9 months. So it could have come from your Platy. Get your fry tanks ready!

Also, a Guppy can mature to the point of breeding quicker than you think. Your Platy and Swordtail, if of opposite genders, are likely to interbreed and are not recommended as tank mates. You can click the shaded names to read more. Good luck!

Thankfully, they're the same gender. At what age do guppys reach sexual maturity?
