When you use liquid fertilizers in your tank Do you shut off the filter for a period of time???8-)
How long do you leave it out? The charcoal has the mechanical filter pad as a part of it, Thanks
In a planted tank it is advisable not to have carbon (charcoal) filtration. Carbon adsorbs [that is not mis-spelled, it adsorbs rather than absorbs:-)] substances from the water, including nutrients that the plants can use.
If the carbon part of the filter media can be removed, it can be replaced with just filter sponge/floss material.
