dwarf gouramis 10 gallon?
I have a 10 gallon planted currently housing a betta ...I plan on moving my betta into another tank soon so this 10 gallon will be empty..It is a fully cylced tank....Would this be an acceptable tank for a dwarf gourami or two?How many dwarf gouramis can live in a 10 gallon?
Here is the 10 gallon:
I love your tank! I would not put a dwarf gourami in a 10 gallon, I have one in my 20 and I just think he would be cramped in a 10 gallon. Maybe you could do something like ember tetra or other fish that stay small.
There are some gourami species that remain quite small and would be better suited to a planted 10g tank. Check out the pygmy sparkling gourami for one that is available periodically [click the shaded name to see our profile]. There are some small shoaling fish that would work with these, the Ember Tetra Amanda mentioned, the dwarf rasbora, and some others in the cyprinids section of the profiles.
That is a nice aquascape. My only suggestion would be some floating plants which would be appreciated by most fish, esp Betta and gourami that spend time near the surface; they love browsing through floating plant leaves and roots.
Thankyou both! I really like the way the dwarf gouramis and honey gourami look.. I may keep my little betta in the 10 gallon and get another 20 gallon for the gourami...Looks like I have an excuse to add a new 20 gallon to my xmas wishlist.haha.
I have been meaning to get some floating water lettuce...I have been trying to wait and find some local but looks like I will most likely be purchasing some online instead.
Your welcome. And why stop at 20 gallons the bigger the tank the better if you have room for it. LOL
Honey Gourami are a better (safer) bet than Dwarf Gourami, for the reasons mentioned in the profile but also space, a small group of Honey in a 20g would be nice.
