Which would you order.. I need to add some plants to my 55 gallon and can not decide which of these 3 options to order. For those of you who don't know its a 55 gallon long with two 6500 daylight bulbs, the only plants right now are 3 small Amazon Swords, 2 Bananna Plants, and a small Anubias plant. Feel free to look at the sweetaquatics web site to suggest others or different amounts of each plant. 12 Bunch Plants: 4 Anacharis 4 Ceratopteris 4 Hygrophila Angustifolia 4 Parrots Feather 6 Small Sword: 2 Red Melon 2 Echinodorus Ozelot 2 Echinodorus Parviflorious 12 Cryptocoryn: 4 Crispatula var balansae 4 Cryptocoryne Walkeri 4 Cryptocoryne Wendtii Red |
I like the swords, but that's my bias and you'll probably run out of room as those swords mature! I have Amazon, Marble Queen Radicans, Brazilian, Rosette, and Ozelot swords. I like swords in general - easy to grow, but some can get big quick! |
I am trying to create what looks like a small jungle on one side of the tank. Then tall plants along the back of the tank on the other side with a row of med size plants, and the something small along the front like maybe java lace fern and a nice piece of branch looking driftwood above the mid section of the same half. I may have to order things a little at a time like maybe this time the swords, then maybe one of the others then the last one. Do you think the ones I have chosen will give me the effect I am looking for? |
I like swords as well as crypts (which I don't seem to have any luck with LoL). Not sure what to tell to order to achieve the look you are after. I will say this I have order from sweetaquatics one time and only once. The plants I got in were awful! I can't remember all the plants I ordered but the pennywort I go in from them was a stem with like 2 leaves. Very bad. Here is the thread about them though. http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/a...-plants-81584/ I know many people have had good luck with them in the past but recently that's been the case as I have heard others with similar problems. I don't know if that have gotten any better now or not. I just wanted to make you aware of it. |
Thanks Boredom. It has been a long time since I ordered from them but I may rethink ordering from them, now that you mention it seems like last time I ordered it took about a month and two or three emailsf or me to get the plants that I had ordered and I don't want to wait that long again. |
Yes that's another thing it took like 3-4 weeks for me to get my plants in and several emails. On the other hand they did refund my money and were nice about it. |
I am going to look around and see if I can find anything close thats close the same price before I place my order. |
I like aponogetons... Most are pretty easy to grow. I'd take out the Echinodorus Parviflorus... they're too slow-growing in my opion. I'd go with Radican swords. |
Thanks Red, in your avitar? I may have asked before but I have forgotten. ; ) |
