Moss Balls

I have a 55 Gallon Freshwater (non-planted) Community Tank.

Is there any advantage to having Moss Balls in the tank? Do they provide any benefit? If so, how many?

Thanks

If you have any shrimp, snails, or fry in the tank they can feed on the micro-organisms living in the moss. Other than that they just look good. Of course all plants consume ammonia for growth but moss balls are very slow growing so it's not much. I have 3 and love them I think they're neat little plants.
