New arrivals Mollie Mayhem
Hi all, i have been an aquarium holder for near 2 months now and thought i would share my good news.
This morning i woke up to find my pregnant molly had delivered her "babies" I thought we had only managed to save 4 and put them in the spare tank however more started to appear and now we have managed to save 19!
I am very happy and thought i would share my good news for once :D :D :D
Congratulations Sally - that's great news! :D
Any idea what you're going to do with them all?
I wanted to keep some and may donate some to my local aquatics place for all thier help i am not sure yet.
I think i will lose some in the growing period but hope not too many.
I came back from work today and found 2 more so the toll is 21 now :D
Does anyone know if i can add a common loach in there to help with keeping it clean or will they eat the babies?
Good luck with the mollies.:)
I was told that putting a snail in there would help clean up the bottom of the tank is this right or should i just leave the fray on there own?
how can i keep it clean and help the odds of survival?
Thanks for the advice again :D
I am worried about vacuming the gravel as they are so tiny i might hurt one.... sad i know.
I will make sure i do 2 changes a week and vac what little gravel i have in there to help with the "mess".
How long does it take for them to grow, will it be months or weeks before i can put some in my main tank?
You will only have a few weeks to wait before they will be OK with the adult mollies. With adequate cover, mollies are some of the least likely of the livebearers to disturb their young. The tetras is the reason to wait a few weeks. Mollies are born rather large compared to many other fish and will grow quickly with enough room and food.
