Will a Mystery Snail devour my plants?

Topic pretty much says it all. I'm considering adding a Mystery Snail to my tank, and I'm concerned he might eat my plants. I have Amazon Swords, El Nino Ferns, Anubias, and Umbrella Plants. Its pretty heavily planted. Thanks for any tips!

I've never had a Mystery snail eat plants that I'm aware of. I guess they could. Perhaps someone else will comment.

My snail did not like the anubis and java moss what so ever. although i had brazilian pennywort and my snail destroyed that.

i'll give it a shot. i keep my pennywort floating with wysteri. i wonder if it could still get to it

I have mystery snails in both my tanks and they leave my plants alone. They only eat the dead and decaying plant matter.

The only way I could see them eating your plants is if they are not getting enough to eat elsewhere.

My pennywort was also floating. that did not matter the snail was still about to eat the plant.

I think they pick and choose what tastes good. Mine only ate my cabomba. Looked as if it when threw a machine that took all the limbs off...but it did leave the entire stem of the plants. Didn't touch microsword, naja grass, or giant hair grass.

for all of you who are saying your mystery snail is eating your plants, are you feeding them?

They cant survive off of savaging alone. If you dont feed them algae pellets, blanched veggies, sinking pellets, etc, from time to time, they will eat your plants.

how often would I need to give the snail the algae pellts, and would I need to worry about my fish eating them before my snail could get to them?

<edit> sorry, I guess this should really be asked in the invertebrae section

I have one in my 20 gallon and he does not bother my plants. I toss two algea wafer in there twice a week to feed him and the dwarf corys share them.
