Dwarf Puffers and RCS
Has anyone ever kept dwarf puffers with red cherry shrimp? I have a new found obsession with dwarf puffers and currently the only tank that I could use is a 20 gallon with 50+ red cherry shrimp. I just recently started this tank and I don't want to ruin any of my progress, but I have read some mixed information regarding this. If this won't work I am thinking of getting a 40 gallon breeder for the dwarf puffers. How many could I have in this size tank. I read one per 2-3 gallons but I have seen some posts disputing this theory. Also, other than Oto's would anything else work in the tank? I was thinking maybe some whiptail catfish. I saw a post from Byron with Red Lizard Whiptail catfish and I would love to own some.

I believe Invertplanet has his DPs in a tank with red cherry shrimp might wanna talk to him about that. As for how many well I go with 5 gallons per puffer. Also needs to be 1 male to every 2-3 females. The males can get very aggressive and territorial. There needs to be lots of hiding places and plants to break up the line of sight.

I am a little disappointed I have not got much response from this thread. Is this just a crazy question or does no one have experience with this?

Spike if you want to have Rcs in the same tank as DPs your best bet IMO is to have a established tank with the shrimp first. The tank needs lots of hiding spots for them. Also some moss would be good as well. This way the shrimp will be established. The DPs will eat some of the babies but the rest will be fine I would think. As I said before ask Invertplanet. He has a tank setted up something like this. You should as him about it. I know he hangs out in the puffer section of this forum a lot might wanna post the question there.
