Eheim 2211-2217 media bags - interested?
Would anyone be interested in purchasing home-made media bags for Eheim filters? I was playing around and made a mesh media bag for my 2215. Seems to work really well when cleaning. I could not find anything similar on-line. The LFS media bags were all to small and really over-priced. If there is enough interest, I can make some using nylon thread (I used cotton thread for my first version).
I haven't priced any of the material out yet, but was wondering what folks thought might be a fair price?

I don't even know what the bags at the LFS cost and not sure on the materials but I would pay $3-5 for each bag plus shipping cost. If thats not cost effective then I would probably pay a little more.

I can't imagine that the mesh would run any more than that, even counting broken sewing machine needles (I don't know jack about sewing other than put it in and press the foot pedal).
I don't think I'd put a drawstring on the top, I just fold my extra mesh over, keep it simple. I would need someone to send me the maximum diameter of a 2217 to size the bags properly!

New find that work well and is free!
Take the plastic "mesh" bags off of certain items you buy in the grocery store (oranges, cheap popsicles, turkeys), cut off the label, tie one end shut and voila!, instant filter media bag that was free. Works great, doesn't catch as much crud as the nyon mesh. Did I mention it was free and recycled?
